Live and Let Diecast should like this post. It is my New Lupin III edition of the classic Fiat 500 Abarth! How do you know it was an Abarth? Because the engine cover is up!

Also just wondeering, are Tomika cars sold in the US? They’ve got all kind of cool toy cars you might want to add to your desktop fleet.

The engine cover being up may also indicate it was a regular Fiat 500 that was driven for over five minutes.

That....or it was to prevent it from overheating...which is what it was for. That is the reason the teams that chose to race them ended up welding the cover arms into an always up position and the reason that Abarth editions were eventually just made without an engine cover.

Oh, I knew that.

I was just making a joke that even the regular Fiat 500 would overheat, no additional power required. The propped-open-bootlid was probably on Carlo’s daily driver too.

I don’t know what it is about Fiat, I just can’t resist them. New or old....They’ve just got a certain passion about them that I can’t explain.

I suppose you realise that the white-and-yellow Fiat with the raised engine lid is a 600 and not a 500, right?

Incidentally - the propped-up lid effectively turned the rear into a sort of a Kamm-tail (obviously more by accident than by design). Considerable improvements in top speed ensued.

All of the Italian manufacturers have a strange hold on me, but Alfa Romeo is by far the strongest.

Fiats are a very close second, especially the 850 family. Would love to have an 850 Coupe or a 128 sedan before they’re all gone.
